Speaking German in North America. Monument of Mühlenberg, Philadelphia

 Philadelphia. The first German settler families arrived in October 1683. Rev. Heinrich Melchior Mühlenberg, the "father of American Lutheranism", served here in the 18th century. There are still 55 German-speaking congregations in North America.

Listen - Move - Spread the Word. Kathrin Göring-Eckardt

Kathrin Göring-Eckardt was pleased that the fourth session of the Eleventh EKD Synod had discussed the central theme "Missionary Impulses" with "passion and energy." The first official echoes had already shown that the question as to how Christian faith today can be "articulate and effective" had met with great interest, the Synod president stated.
